Ideally, muscles are strong, yet supple. I will work with you to help develop and promote the healthy body you desire.

We are not machines, yet like every machine, our bodies require care and maintenance. In today’s modern world it is sometimes difficult to have the time to care for the body to keep it functioning smoothly at an optimal level. Every body, sooner or later, experiences pain, soreness, stiffness or some kind of discomfort or ailment. There are a variety of practices that encourage the body and mind to maintain balance and connection, to relax and keep in shape. Anything from meditation and yoga, athletics, long walks or vacations.

Massage is like a vacation for your body. The better you care for your body, the better it will travel through life. Keys to life are conscious living and fulfilling activities; massage can help you with both. Massage brings increased awareness to your body and allows you to do the activities of your life better. Your body and mind function best with simple things: good nutrition, a positive outlook, plenty of rest and fulfilling daily activities. If you do not know why you are here on planet Earth, it is to experience the joy of your existence. Let massage help you keep the joy in your existence, and your process to unfold.

Why receive massage?

How often do you receive massage? It is estimated that 80-90% of the population has never received a professional massage. Those that do usually repeat the experience as often as they can. Why?

What are the benefits of massage? Massage Therapy can be utilized for a variety of reasons: overall relaxation of mind and body, preventative maintenance, or for treatment for specific conditions. All massage is treatment massage. It is difficult to determine what ailments your body may not encounter due to the preventative nature of relaxation or maintenance massage. By receiving massage, you may not encounter any one of a myriad variety of possible ailments the body is capable of.

Life is movement

Your body is in motion everyday, through out the day, each and every day. Your muscles are in use with every motion. Every single motion you do involves two things: muscle and bone. You cannot make one single movement without effecting your muscles and bones. Standing, sitting, walking, talking, writing, typing, driving, eating, drinking, all these everyday activities employ a variety of muscles. Each and every movement you make requires at least one muscle, two bones, and a joint. Every muscle is attached to two bones, and between these bones are joints. The human body, yes-that includes yours, has about 650 muscles, 200 bones and 250 joints. With every movement there is muscle contraction, bones moving toward or away from each other, and movement occurring at the joints.

Massage within the healthcare industry

Massage and bodywork are synonymous terms. A massage therapist or bodyworker works with the soft tissue of your body. In fact, no one in the healthcare industry works with the soft tissues of your body like a massage therapist. I will spend 1-2 hours working with the muscles and other soft tissues of your body, no other health care provider will even come close. Most general practice doctors do nothing of the sorts, usually prescribing either pain killers, rest, a referral to a specialist, and in some cases surgery, or some combination for their treatment. Physical therapists and occupational therapists may use massage in their treatment, but usually for short periods accompanied with strengthening and stretching exercises. They usually have not been to massage school, and their knowledge of massage techniques is limited.
